Oculoplastic & Eyelid Care

Eyelid lesions — including cysts, chalazia, styes, and other growths — are evaluated for clinical significance. We determine whether a lesion requires observation, medical management, or surgical referral.

Any new, changing, or bleeding growth on the eyelid should be examined promptly.

Upper eyelid conditions may include drooping (ptosis), excess skin (dermatochalasis), or other changes that affect vision or appearance. We evaluate upper eyelid concerns and discuss appropriate management options.

Lower eyelid conditions may include ectropion (outward turning), entropion (inward turning), excess skin, or other changes. We evaluate lower eyelid concerns and coordinate care as appropriate.

When eyelid conditions affect vision, ocular surface health, or daily function, a functional evaluation helps determine whether intervention is appropriate. Documentation of functional impairment may be relevant for insurance purposes.

Because the eyelids play a central role in tear film health, eyelid evaluation is also part of our dry eye and ocular surface care.

Patients interested in cosmetic eyelid improvement are evaluated and, when appropriate, referred to an oculoplastic surgeon for further consultation. We do not guarantee cosmetic results.

Upper blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove excess upper eyelid skin. It may be performed for functional reasons — when excess skin obstructs the visual field — or for cosmetic improvement. Surgical coordination is provided when appropriate.

Lower blepharoplasty addresses excess skin, fat, or laxity of the lower eyelids. It is typically performed for cosmetic improvement. Surgical coordination is provided when appropriate.
