Everything you need to prepare for your visit and make the most of your care at Bronx Vision Center.
New Patients
We welcome new patients to Bronx Vision Center. Please arrive a few minutes early for your first visit to complete any necessary paperwork. Bring your current glasses or contact lenses, a list of any medications you are taking, and your insurance information.
Insurance
We accept a range of vision and medical insurance plans. Please contact our office to confirm whether your specific plan is accepted before your appointment. Patients without insurance are also welcome; we will discuss fees at the time of scheduling.
Preparing for Your Eye Examination
For a comprehensive eye examination, bring your current glasses or contact lenses, a list of your current medications (including eye drops), and any relevant medical records or prior eye examination reports. If you wear contact lenses, you may be asked to remove them before certain tests.
Dilated Eye Examinations
Some examinations require dilation of the pupils to allow thorough evaluation of the retina and optic nerve. Dilation causes temporary blurred near vision and light sensitivity, typically lasting two to four hours. We recommend arranging transportation if you are concerned about driving after dilation.
Contact Lens Visits
For contact lens fitting or follow-up appointments, please wear your contact lenses to the appointment if possible, or bring them with you. Bring your current contact lens prescription and any contact lens solution you use.
Pediatric Visits
For children’s eye examinations, bring any glasses your child currently wears. For young children, scheduling the appointment at a time when your child is well-rested and alert will help ensure the most productive examination.
Surgical Co-Management
If you are scheduled for cataract surgery, LASIK, or another procedure and Bronx Vision Center is providing co-management, please bring all documentation from your surgeon, including preoperative instructions and any medications prescribed.
Prescription Refills
For prescription refills, please contact our office directly. Refills for eye drops and other ophthalmic medications are provided at the discretion of the treating physician and may require a current examination.
Urgent Eye Problems
If you are experiencing sudden vision changes, eye pain, trauma, chemical exposure, or new flashes and floaters, please contact our office immediately. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek emergency medical care.
