Bronx Vision Center receives focused clinical questions, evaluates the patient, communicates findings, and returns the patient appropriately. We are designed to be a reliable clinical partner — not a one-way referral destination.
A Clinical Partner
Primary care physicians, endocrinologists, internists, and other eye-care providers refer patients to BVC because they need a practice that can receive a specific clinical question, evaluate it thoroughly, and communicate back. Consultation reports, diabetic eye reports, surgical co-management, and direct provider communication are part of how we work.
What We Provide
How we work with referring providers.
Consultation Reports
Following a consultation, we provide a written report summarizing clinical findings, assessment, and recommendations. Reports are available to referring providers and can be communicated directly to the referring physician’s office.
Diabetic Eye Examination Reports
We provide structured written reports for diabetic eye examinations, documenting retinal findings and clinical recommendations. Reports are available to referring physicians and endocrinologists and can be incorporated into the patient’s broader medical record.
Cataract & Surgical Co-Management
We provide preoperative evaluation and postoperative co-management for patients undergoing cataract surgery, including advanced IOL counseling. We coordinate with surgical partners and maintain communication with referring providers throughout the process.
Glaucoma Evaluation & Monitoring
We provide evaluation, medical management, and ongoing monitoring for patients with glaucoma and ocular hypertension. When surgical intervention is indicated, we coordinate specialist referral and continue co-management as appropriate.
Dry Eye & Ocular Surface Consultation
For patients with persistent dry eye symptoms, ocular surface disease, or contact-lens intolerance that has not responded to initial management, we provide specialized evaluation and individualized treatment planning.
Pediatric Eye Care
We provide comprehensive eye care for children beginning at approximately 6 months of age, including evaluation for amblyopia, strabismus, refractive error, and ocular health. Pediatric referrals from pediatricians and family medicine providers are welcome.
Oculoplastic Consultation
For patients with eyelid lesions, ptosis, dermatochalasis, or other eyelid and periocular concerns, we provide evaluation and coordinate oculoplastic surgical referral when appropriate.
Communication with PCPs & Specialists
Eye findings in diabetes, vascular disease, systemic inflammatory conditions, and medication use exist within a broader medical context. We communicate relevant findings to primary care physicians and specialists when clinically appropriate.
